AIRMAN APPLICATION FORM 8710

  • Complete your application using IACRA
  • Your instructor must sign your application prior to scheduling your test
  • Print a copy of your application from IACRA and bring it to your test. If IACRA is unavailable, the test can still begin and a paper application will be submitted to the FSDO. Please contact me if special circumstances require you to submit a paper application. There will be an additional $100 charge for handling a paper application.

PILOT LOGBOOKS

  • Ensure your name is listed as the owner of your logbook
  • Ensure that all pages in your logbook have been totaled
  • If the last logbook page is not yet complete, please enter the totals in pencil
  • Electronic logbook users must provide a printout of the logbook entries (including instructor signatures/certificate/expiry) which document the aeronautical experience and training for the certificate or rating for which you are applying: A summary report will not be sufficient.
  • Refer to 14 CFR 61.51 “Pilot logbooks” for the requirements for logging flight and ground instruction.
  • Ensure your logbook has separate columns and totals for SOLO and PIC.

ENDORSEMENTS

  • Refer to 14 CFR 61 for the aeronautical knowledge and experience requirements for the certificate or rating for which you are applying.
  • Refer to Advisory Circular 61-65 for details on the logbook endorsements required for your test.
  • If you are using an electronic logbook, please print all the required endorsements with instructor’s signature.

  • Student pilots flying more than 50nm to their test must have a 14 CFR 61.93(c)(3) Solo Cross-Country endorsement for the day of the test.

AIRCRAFT TO BE USED FOR THE TEST

  • Bring the original aircraft maintenance logbooks or records.
  • Ensure the aircraft registration is current.
  • Without a legible signature or e-signature on the Airworthiness Certificate, the aircraft is not airworthy and cannot be used.
  • FAA Order 8130.2J encourages aircraft owners/operators to laminate the airworthiness certificate.
  • The aircraft must meet the requirements defined in 14 CFR 61.45.
  • Inoperative equipment in the plane must have been deactivated, placarded, and the maintenance logged in accordance with 14 CFR 41.45 and 91.213. NOTE: Without a maintenance entry describing the handling of inoperative equipment, the practical test cannot start.
  • All required inspections must be current.
  • All Airworthiness Directives must be complied with at the time of the test.  While an AD compliance list is not required by regulations, they save considerable time. Do not schedule a practical test for an aircraft without an AD compliance list without examiner approval.
  • The aircraft must be in a condition for safe flight.
