Before pursuing a career in aviation, I served as a Submarine Division Officer in the United States Navy, where I supervised 300+ personnel during three major overhaul periods including two dry-dockings, a watch team of 40 personnel during 5 strategic deterrent patrols, and a division of up to 26 personnel. As a consultant, I conducted market research for product expansion into South America and gathered competitive intelligence in online search marketing for Fortune 500 clients. These experiences provided me with a strong foundation in project management, strategic planning, and data analysis, which I have since applied to the aviation industry.
With decades of experience in the aviation industry, I have served in various roles, including Director of Operations/Director of Standardization, Flight Operations Program Manager, Director of Aviation, Chief of Flight Operations, Chief Instructor, Assistant Chief Instructor, and Adjunct Professor. I take pride in my ability to successfully develop, manage, and improve aviation programs, as evidenced by my accomplishments in each of my roles, including increasing annual revenue from $3.6M to $9.7M, launching a new Associates of Science (A.S.) degree in Aviation, and completing the initial certification of two 14 CFR Part 141 Provisional Pilot Schools. I have supervised the administration of all courses from Private Pilot (ASEL) through Airline Transport Pilot (AMEL) and launched a new Associates of Science (A.S.) degree in Aviation - Professional Pilot.
As a Director of Aviation and Flight Operations Program Manager at various universities, I have been heavily involved in program management and curriculum development for aviation programs. In my role as Director of Aviation, I played a critical role in the development of the Associates of Science (A.S.) degree in Aviation - Professional Pilot. This included developing TCOs and budgets; purchasing aircraft and equipment; developing the academic curriculum; employee hiring and retention; marketing; and student recruitment.
My experience in growing complex programs and curriculum development has given me the skills and expertise to create programs that are effective and relevant, whether at a Part 61 flight school or at a two-year community college or a four-year institution. I understand the importance of designing programs that meet the needs of both students and the industry, and I am committed to developing programs that provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their careers.
I have earned my MBA with a focus on Operations Management and Finance from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where I also earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. I have also studied Aviation Safety at a graduate level from the University of Central Missouri Online. I am passionate about utilizing my experience and education to help organizations achieve their goals and improve their financial objectives, curriculum needs, and aviation operations.
As a FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate holder with multiple ratings, I have logged over 3,300 total flight hours, including 3,200+ as Pilot in Command (PIC). I also hold FAA Gold-Seal Flight Instructor and Advanced Ground Instructor certificates, as well as a Remote Pilot Certificate with Small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS) Rating.
I look forward to applying my skills and expertise to help you achieve success in your flight training operations and financial endeavors. Thank you for considering me for your consulting needs.
